This weekend we have finally seen the new Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone go on sale here in the UK. The model was always set to be popular but it seems as though Samsung have underestimated just how high this demand would be as many retailers do not have enough stock of the device to meet demand. Another issue that has popped up surrounds the larger capacity versions of the S4 which we expected to see go on sale. At the moment it looks as though only the 16GB version is available in the UK.
There will be a number of consumers left disappointed following the release of the Samsung Galaxy S4 this weekend Many retailers here in the UK only received enough stock to satisfy orders that had already been placed for the model, leaving many potential consumers facing a further wait for the new phone. Another cause for disappointment is the non arrival of the 32GB and 64GB handsets that we were expecting to see. At the moment only the 16GB handset can be found on the majority of UK retailers websites and these handsets are attracting a very premium price of £579 contract free. This is £50 more than the equivalent iPhone 5 device and also the 32GB version of the very impressive new HTC One.
Samsung have armed the new Samsung Galaxy S4 with some superb specification and this includes micro SD card support. This means that anybody purchasing a 16GB phone can easily add additional storage of up to 32GB by purchasing a micro SD card. This will be welcomed by many consumers but does not alter the fact that many more have been left disappointed by the no show of the 32GB and 64GB version. There is no explanation at present as to why these models have not appeared and it seems consumers in the United States are facing a similar story. One network provider in the US has commented on the issue however stating that they expect to see the 64GB version of the device arrive very soon.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is sure to prove a huge success across the globe but the lack of larger capacity models at launch will have left many consumers feeling slightly disappointed.
